Cha-am is the oldest, longest and best of Thailands beach resort. It is a genuine Thai resort that has not been overly developed and Thai tourists still outnumber foreigners by a huge majority.  Cha Cha in Thai means "slowly, slowly" and that is a very accurate description of life in Cha-am. The pace is relaxed and you can really unwind fully in this beautiful beach resort. That is where we got the name Cha-Cha-am!

Cha-am is most certainly a Thai resort. If you want a real Thai experience without all the tourist trappings then Cha-am is the place to go. So far, it has not been spoilt by development and the locals are still friendly and happy - not like some of the other tourist areas where they are just looking to get your money. However, it is worth noting that the Thai idea of a resort may not appeal to some foreigners. Some may think it is tacky but I love it - it is pure Thai! Old tandem bikes - for up to 6 people!!!
