Thanks for the info, although I think 20 quid per month is extortionate.
I used to have a number which was used with BT land lines in the UK.
It cost 1 p per minute, I think it now costs 3 p per minute so for your 20 quid with your Thai tillac (thinking conversation/ language barriers) you've got approximately 34 hours to talk about, what?
It's a known fact that in the western world you don't talk with your lover/wife for more than 10 minutes on any given day.
Onlyme.
PS. I'd stick with 3 pence per minute. Very Happy

Mind you, I dont know the internet prices etc in the UK so it's probably a good deal, especially if you have a family.
My internet use over here costs about 80 baht per month. Wink

80 baht per month?

U must be using pigeons to deliver your posts!!!

I was paying 1200 baht per month in Bangkok for ADSL line 1024.

For connecting to the internet you have to compare the speed of the connection - dialup is cheap but you have to pay for the phone connection each time.

Not sure what the best rates are in Thailand but here in Ireland they are starting to bundle services - that means getting internet, tv, phone and mobile all for one fixed price...... trying to lock in the customer!

I tried to get ADSL in Cha-am but it was just being introduced in my area. However, now they have it there and the connection is supposed to be a little dodgy - but it is enough to get mail and do some surfing.

Other option if you are in the sticks is to use satellite- i think it is called IPSTAR.

I use dial up with TOT and it costs 3 baht per hour.
It suffices for me as I'm not into downloading sh*te. Very Happy

PS. I know a few people from Huahin who say it's too slow.

I use ADSL 1024 by TOT, wich should cost me 1000 baht per month for unlimited acces. On my bill I see they charge me 500 to 700 baht a month. It is not as quick as in Europe, but enough to do some surfing. If you want to download movies you would want something quicker.
I also have a mobile connection from Hutch. Not as quick, but handy if you want to read your email on the beach or go upstate for a few days... It costs 12000 baht a year for unlimited acces.

very true applemanthai,

but i am not moaning about the cost!

if it were free it would still be too expensive for a certain person,

in fact he would probably think he should be paid to use it!
